How to Make a Bamboo Trellis for Your Garden or Pot

Once it starts, bamboo can grow like a weed. When pruning, why not keep the trimmings and make a trellis for your garden or patio pots? Instead of buying a new metal or wood trellis for your clematis, sweetpeas or other climbers, reuse your bamboo cuttings to create one of the most eco-friendly garden trellis panels around. Bamboo is strong, durable and perfect for this kind of project. It doesn't take long to build and is something the kids will love to help with! We've pulled together the how-to in four easy steps.

Step 1: Start by choosing and stripping your bamboo branches of leaves. Step 2: Plan your trellis and lay it out as you'd like to build it. Step 3: Fasten the branches together at cross points with sisal garden twine. Step 4: Bury the lower branch ends of your trellis into the dirt in your pot or your garden.
